Prometeon announces the launch of a new training and professional certification programme for tyre technicians, organised by SuperTruck, the Group’s network of partner dealers.

The initiative was developed together with SIPAV, a leading company in equipment and consumables for tyre specialists and garages, and part of the CEMB Group. The programme is completed by a skills certification developed with DEKRA, a global leader in safe mobility that supports companies along the entire value chain through testing, inspection and certification services.

The project was launched with the aim of enhancing the professional qualifications of industry operators and providing the dealer network with a practical tool for developing technical skills, improving operational safety, and strengthening their market positioning, while promoting continuous improvement in the quality and safety of the service provided.

SuperTruck is a network of independent dealers specialising in the Truck & Bus segment, developed by Prometeon Tyre Group. Established in Italy in 2016 and structured as a consortium in 2019, it currently brings together 37 dealers and represents an ecosystem dedicated to fleets and professional transport. Through this network, Prometeon supports dealers with services, training programmes and business development tools, fostering the growth of technical expertise and the adoption of high service standards.

Professionalism is a key element for the growth of the SuperTruck network and the development of the entire Prometeon ecosystem,” commented Andrea Bottini, Head of Fleet & Network Development at Prometeon and President of the SuperTruck Network. “With this project, we aim to offer dealers a structured pathway that enhances operators’ skills and helps to ensure increasingly high standards of quality and safety in the service delivered”.

The training pathway relies on a structured certification protocol that clearly defines the skills, knowledge and abilities required of professionals.

“We enthusiastically embraced the consortium’s idea of offering a certification for tyre technicians, based on the values of competence and safety, by contributing our expertise and whatever else was necessary in order to develop the protocol,” explained Franco Benati, Sales Manager Equipment at SIPAV and trainer within the SIPAV Academy programme. “More precisely, SIPAV is responsible for delivering the training module and organising examination sessions in its capacity as an assessment body recognised by DEKRA.”

The Tyre Technician certification is issued by DEKRA and involves two levels of professional qualification.
The first level focuses on operational technical skills, including tyre and wheel rim diagnostics, fitting and repair operations, checking vehicle balance and alignment, and the application of safety regulations. The second level expands the profile with organisational and managerial skills, including garage management, activity planning, customer relations and workplace safety management.

In an increasingly complex automotive market, the professionalism of tyre technicians is a crucial aspect of vehicle safety and the protection of operators themselves,” underlined Federica Bosisio, Senior Technical Expert at DEKRA. “The DEKRA assessment process makes the possession of the required skills clear, objective and demonstrable”.

The first-level pathway, open to all operators who have already begun working as tyre technicians at specialised dealers, consists of a four-hour preparatory course followed by an examination including both written and practical tests. The certification is valid for five years and involves periodic assessments.

The course and certification tests may be held at dealers’ premises, at the SIPAV Academy in Reggio Emilia, or at other venues suitable for conducting practical examinations.

This new pathway represents a concrete opportunity for the SuperTruck dealer network to further qualify its staff, while also obtaining an officially recognised professional certification.
